15 minutes in the morning, leave it all day, put some rice on and your evening meal is done.
This is one of the easiest things I make and it’s very tasty.
You can absolutely make a curry completely from scratch and if i have the time, I do. But life has been a bit manic lately and rather than beating myself up because I haven’t got time to toast spices and make curry paste, I used a jar of paste.
You will need:
About 500g stewing steak -we recommend New Sheepfold Farm 😉
1 onion (chopped)
A couple of cloves of garlic (finely chopped or pressed)
A few spoonfuls of curry paste
1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 tin coconut milk
Olive Oil
Salt & Pepper
Rice, wraps or Flatbreads
Brown the beef and onion if you have time, then put everything in the slow cooker. Cook on low for 7–8 hours until the beef is lovely and tender.
Put some rice on when you are ready to eat and that is your tea /dinner/ supper sorted.
Why stewing steak ?
Stewing steak is one of those really useful cuts to keep in the freezer.
Cook it slowly and it becomes tender, rich and full of flavour, which makes it brilliant for curries, casseroles, pies and all sorts of batch-cooked meals.
Our beef comes from our own Beef Shorthorn cattle here at New Sheepfold Farm, and stewing steak is one of the cuts I find myself reaching for again and again when I want something easy.
Perfect for batch cooking
This is also exactly the sort of meal our Batch Cooking Beef Box was created for.
The box includes a selection of cuts such as stewing steak, braising steak, shin, mince, score beef and a roasting joint, so you can make several proper meals from one delivery and keep the freezer well stocked.
If “what are we having for tea?” is a regular question in your house, this sort of box makes life a lot easier.

Louise’s note: We really enjoyed this. If you want to make it a bit lighter, leave out the coconut milk and stir through a few spoonfuls of Greek yoghurt at the end instead, just take it off the heat first.
