Looking for an unforgettable educational farm visit experience for your pupils this May, June or July? Imagine their faces lighting up as they get up close and personal with adorable lambs and calves! Here at New Sheepfold Farm, we’re opening our gates to schools and offering exciting farm visits that bring the curriculum to life.
We’re a working livestock farm, home to playful lambs, curious calves, and mischievous goats! But it’s not just about the animals. Our farm is a haven for wildlife, too, with ponds, protected hedgerows, and a vibrant wildflower meadow—perfect for exploring environmental schemes and discovering the wonders of nature.
We’ve welcomed many school groups in the past, including pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds and our local school, and we understand the importance of tailoring the experience to suit different ages and learning styles.
Here’s a taste of what awaits your students:
(Example Timetable – can be adjusted)
- 9:15-9:45: The adventure begins! Pupils and staff arrive by bus (wellies and old clothes highly recommended!).
- 9:45-9:50: A quick wellington dip to keep things clean.
- 9:50-10:00: Welcome and safety briefing, followed by a group split.
- 10:00-10:15: Time for questions and a breath of fresh farm air.
- 10:15-11:00: Group 1: Meet the lambs! Learn all about sheep and their fascinating lives.
- 11:15-12:00: Group 2: Tractors and horsepower! Discover the powerful machines that help us run the farm.
- 12:00-12:15: Handwashing (important after all that farm fun!).
- 12:15-1:00: Lunch and toilet break (packed lunches required).
- 1:00-1:45: Group 3: Meet the goats! Feed these friendly characters and get to know our rare breed Soay sheep.
- 1:45-2:15: A whole-class nature walk to explore our diverse farm environment.
- 2:15-2:30: Wellington wash and shoe change.
- 2:30: Farewell and departure by bus.
This is just a sample itinerary. We can happily adjust the timings and activities to fit your school’s schedule and the age group of your pupils. Travel times and other factors can be considered.
The best part? The farm visit itself is completely free! You’ll just need to cover the cost of transportation.
